Leadership

How I’ve Showed Up, Stepped up, and Led through Actions, Projects, and Reflection

One of the most important things i.c.stars teaches is how to excel as a leader, educating us on the means to be empathetic, authentic, and gracious. I myself have already had a relatively strong leadership presence, so I was able to pair those leadership traits with my transparent, educative, and holistic leadership skills to become one of the the main sources of help cohort members had among our cycle.

Team Week Highlights

Using tact and grace, I took initiative to break down walls within our cohort, making room for laughter and comradery

We were challenged on our beliefs, biases, and assumptions, learning more about ourselves and our fellow colleagues

We all successfully passed the first week, showing the resilience and determination we bring to our new daily tables

Stepping Up As A Branding Architect

With a new team comes a new logo. Our team gelled together well, so the use of water was almost a necessity. Pair that with our sentiment of i.c.stars polishing us up, and we get ourselves some beautiful pearls shaped by what we learned.

Within our Sub-Companies, we found our client liked having a mascot as part of the product she wanted. With the branding guidelines our client had provided us, I had taken the time to use one of their assets to create this little birthday buddy.

Hosting Tea

Presenting someone you don’t know much about can be a nerve-racking experience. Luckily for our cohort, we had a higher tendency to be hosting our fellow cohort to build up the courage publicly speak.

I did have the pleasure to introduce Mr. Reece Clark, a partner with Polsinelli, who gave us the pleasure of discussing a number of topics from balancing work and life, getting started with running a business, and more!

Planetary Responsibility

One of the things we learned is a term called, “Planetary Responsibility,” or the responsibility we choose to take on for the betterment of our world. After all, if our world is our home, and if we don’t respect our home, how can we expect our home to respect us?

That’s why I’ve taken the responsibility of rebuilding respect between classes by reshaping the balance of power, starting with the balance of tech to humanity.

Where I Take My Leadership From Here

Now with my leadership skills refined and honed, it’s time to become the changes I wish to see in the world. Creating Solutions is just one part of the equation, however it alone cannot suffice for adoption. For that, I’ll need to take:

  • My ability to Network with industry leaders to learn what hinders ethical business practices, where human connection can take priority, and how privacy can be enshrined both in technological frameworks, and in design philosophies
  • My Planetary Responsibility, using it as both the motivation to keep moving forward, and the mission to ground myself on the path to success
  • Tact, Grace, and Initiative in Rising to Challenges, while still maintaining my Resilience, Determination, and Transparency for an Open and Honest Future
